CALL OUT FOR
STAGE MANAGER

Theatre In Flow (TIF), is a Rochdale-based cultural organisation dedicated to supporting marginalised voices.

We are looking for an experienced freelance Stage Manager to join our team on our next show ‘We are still Asafo’.

‘We are still Asafo’, written and directed by Liz Mytton, creative director at TIF, is a theatre show performing at Loading Bay, a temporary black box theatre space, as part of Bradford 2025. This new show draws inspiration from the experiences of the African diaspora across West Africa, the Caribbean, and the UK. Utilising Ghanaian flag-making traditions and rituals, the performance honours the journeys of our communities and our shared ancestral connections, exploring how these links can offer guidance in our present times.

We’re looking for an experienced Stage Manager to lead the rehearsal, and on-site technical and communications delivery of ‘We are still Asafo’.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced freelance Stage Manager to join our team. The Stage Manager will lead the company during rehearsal and performances, call performances, manage tech, and oversee cast and crew.

  • Call all performances, manage show cues, and maintain consistency across venues.

  • Oversee technical rehearsals and liaise with venue tech teams.

  • Maintain cue sheets, tech specs, and risk assessments.

  • Lead cast and crew with empathy and professionalism, addressing issues as they arise.

  • Maintain daily show reports and communicate with the Production Manager.

  • Support get-in/out and ensure safety and show quality at every stop.

You'll need:

  • 3+ years' experience as a Stage Manager.

  • Strong technical understanding (lighting/sound/staging).

  • Proven ability to lead a team under pressure.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

  • A collaborative mindset and positive team presence.

  • Health & safety competency in performance and rehearsal.
